TRUCKS

1974 VW Thing, on Forest Road 1410, Ponca Arkansas, I have several photos of different vehicles on this road, it was one of my favorite roads in the Ozark Mountains.

1972 Chevrolet C-30, bought this as cab and chassis in Harrison Arkansas, was an old Neiman Marcus delivery truck. The box came off of a 2 ton truck,it was too big and too heavy for this bruck but the box only cost $100.00

1974 Ford C-9000 formerly a road tractor, 10' Southern Body box, 250 Cummins, 10 speed Road Ranger, pulled skee ball trailer with it. Good handling truck with trailer hooked up, awfully squirrelly when bob-tailing.

1967 Jeep, bought around 1992? Transmission kept popping out of 2nd, cost as much to get fixed as I paid for jeep. It had a V-6 and a broken frame on the right side. got another photo of this jeep in driveway with the hubcaps on it which are probably worth as much as the jeep.

M151A1 -- 1964, bought from a guy in Summersville MO, Had a bone fide MO title with correct numbers. The guy I bought it from was in charge of cutting the jeeps in half. Somehow this one didn't get cut all the way in half, just from the side about 6" from the end of the axe handle to the transmission tunnel. I sold this jeep in 2005 for $4500.00

Dang! I like those Ford Big Jobs! I had one once!

M715 w/winch, M886 ambulance camping in Missouri Ozarks 1996?

1986 Ford F-350 Centurian. Bought this truck brand new for $10,000 from Fred Jones Ford in OKC in 1988. I traded in a 1988 black Chev C-30 diesel custom dually that could keep injection pumps timed.

1972 Porsche 911 --- six carbs, like driving a rail track. Lil Jim and I had this up to 140+ MPH on hwy 5 south of Ava once, the car had more to go but my testosterone kicked out at 140.

M886 1976 ambulance, no power steering. bought from fire dept in Fair Grove MO for $1,000.00. Great truck, it's why we put power steering in Lil Jim's M880. This photo taken in valley below the cabin's in Rockaway.

Camping trip in Chadwick, I let Jim and his friends use the trucks for a senior class campout. What was I thinking?

M725 Ambulance, 1968, I drove on of these in the service. Nice truck. Sold it for $1800 to buy the bus.

That's Lil Jim in the white shirt in the middle.

test

Thanks for riding the Bus! No need to tip the driver! Today, April 1, 2008, I am posting my 787th post on this blog. I think I am going to park this blog for awhile. I don't feel the passion for writing here that I once did. And I get tired of people pissing on my leg and telling me it's raining. Besides, it's Springtime in Springfield and budget crisis' aside (doesn't the county run on sales tax too?), there are sidewalks to build and grass to mow and empty septic tank holes to fill.
I spent almost all of last summer re-doing the Airstream. Now that I got it finished, now that I got the suburban all set to go, I am going to use them. Yeah, that's the ticket. I'm gonna take a thousand dollars and head west until I've spent 500, then I'm gonna turn around and come back. The private nurse says with three dollar gasoline I MAY make it to Tulsa and back.
This weekend, my wife and I are taking the Airstream down to Branson for the weekend. We know some fellow Airstream travelers and we rendezvous in Branson at Compton Ridge Campground twice a year. Here are some photos from last October's gathering.

I will be 59 years old next month. I guess I finally realized I will never be Superman. I have been retired for three years now and I got a few more stars I am going to shoot for, it ain't over 'til the fat lady sings.

So, I am going to take a break for awhile. Thanks for riding and I appreciate you. (four row, last person on the right, 1968)
